This is a Phacus smulkowskianus, an elegant single-celled organisms magnified 1000x. Normally I don’t have a story behind the names, however, this time with the Phacus smulkowskianus I know how it got its name! . This organism is named by my favorite professor in 1986. Prof. Zakrys works on euglenids, like Phacus, for over 40 years, and Professor named the organism after her husband’s uncle who spoke 9 languages and was helping Professor to translate the original descriptions of euglenids specie
