In just a few weeks, our popular Met Stars Live in Concert series continues with a performance featuring a quartet of extraordinary dramatic voices. Live from the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, Germany, sopranos Christine Goerke, Soprano and Elza van den Heever, tenor Andreas Schager, and baritone Michael Volle join forces for a soaring program of music by Wagner and Strauss on Saturday, May 8. Only five performances remain of Wagner’s epic comedy Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Named a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times, Otto Schenk’s classic production is back on stage this afternoon at 1PM, featuring soprano Lise Davidsen, whose voice is “luminous when soft and startlingly big at full cry” (New York Times), baritone Michael Volle, tenors Paul Appleby and Klaus Florian Vogt, and Claudia Mahnke Mezzosopran, conducted by Antonio Pappano.
