For the 1942 re-release of The Gold Rush, originally released in 1925, Charlie Chaplin and musical director Max Terr composed an original tune called "Mother's Dance" for Chaplin's famous dance of the rolls. In naming the tune, was Chaplin referring to his own mother, Hannah? Did she do a similar dance to amuse Charlie and his brother Sydney when they were children?
