Vomiting blóőd usually means the bleeding is from the upper GI tract. Coffee-ground vomit is digested blood. A classic upper GI sign. Melena (black, tarry stools) happens when blood is broken down higher in the gut. Bloody or coffee-ground NG aspirate points to an upper GI source. NSAIDs increase risk of peptic ulcers, so recent NSAID use is a helpful clue supporting an upper GI cause. #nursendifon | Nurse Ndifon
