This is the remaining portion of a mature ash tree stem. We took most of the tree down about 4 years ago. due to it having heavy die-back of the crown. We left about 5 meters of the main stem standing for wildlife habitat. It was time to take the stem down due to decay in the base ( honey fungus). The pink line indicates where an old stock fence and barbed wire are embedded in the tree.
