DEXA SCAN — what it really tells you (and what it doesn’t) A DEXA scan is not a weight test. It is a body composition bone health scan. It breaks your body into three compartments: 1️⃣ Lean mass This includes muscle, organs, water, and connective tissue. 👉 Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue you have. More lean mass = better insulin sensitivity, joint protection, metabolism, and ageing resilience. 2️⃣ Fat mass DEXA shows where fat is stored, not just how much. 👉 Visceral (abdominal)
