The radioactive tracer is injected into a vein and travels through the bloodstream to the liver. A normal scan visualizes the absorption of the tracer by the gallbladder and excretion into the small intestine.

Update::: Pediatric dr come around and they are consulting a GI dr. The HIDA Scan did show something but nothing to do with the gallbladder the nurse said. That's why we are waiting on the GI consult. Two of the pediatric doctors have mentioned an ulcer and they said trauma can cause ulcers. The nurse was giving Allie her medicine and she started with her belly hurting her so makes us think ulcer also. I said it may have something to do with the gallons of banana peppers she would eat!! Prayers
