Here are a few tips for easy hemming on your coverstitch machine: -Use a paper-backed fusible tape to hold your hem in place. Not only does it eliminate the need for pins, but it helps to keep your hem from stretching and helps you press it evenly all the way around (we are using 1/2" tape, but it usually comes in a variety of widths). -Snip your seam allowance right above the hem so there is less bulk. Sewing tip for all you coverstitchers out there. This is a nice, neat way to secure those coverstitch seams, especially when sewing in the round and it means your needles stay threaded too. Stop and bring your needles down into the fabric. Raise the foot. Bring the needle threads towards you and hold onto them as you turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needles.
