I recently had the "rite of passage" of experiencing my first ever mammogram. A mammogram screening is an important and necessary procedure for women's health (though it's worth noting that men can also get breast cancer, and should be getting regular screenings as well!). Women at average risk of breast cancer should begin receiving mammograms every two years starting at the age of 40 instead of 50, according to new draft recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. More than 43,000 women die of breast cancer in the United States each year.
