Both wing and leg injuries can impact flight ability in birds. This Blue Jay (24-1396) was brought to our wildlife hospital after a concerned citizen noticed that the bird was having trouble flying. Radiographs confirmed an oblique fracture in the patient’s right leg. An oblique fracture happens when a bone breaks on an angle. Clinic staff applied a splint and cast to the bird’s leg to treat the injury. This patient is currently receiving supportive care in our ICU . Follow along to learn more a
