A trough lies draped over the North Island today. Along the trough a low pressure centre is bringing showers to northern parts of Auckland and Northland. These showers are expected to become isolated and confined to the east during Wednesday. This isobar and wind animation shows how as the the week progresses, the low pressure centres moves away to the northeast as a broad ridge of high pressure moves onto the South Island.
