On #ThisDayInHistory in 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, granting many American women the right to vote. The Amendment was the result of nearly a century’s work by both Black and White suffrage advocates, but despite the Amendment’s aims, it would take more than 40 years for many women of color to achieve voting equality.
